Mobile physical therapy is a type of physical therapy that is provided in the comfort of your own home. This can be an excellent option for people who have difficulty getting to a traditional physical therapy clinic, such as those who are homebound or have mobility issues.

No. Home health requires a doctor’s referral for initial evaluation, but a mobile physical therapist doesn’t require a doctor’s referral. Home Health agency has a different set of Medicare regulations than mobile physical therapy practice. The primary difference is that Home Health bill Medicare Part-A and mobile physical therapist bills Medicare Part-B.

Insurance coverage for mobile physical therapy varies depending on your insurance plan. Some plans will cover it entirely, while others may only cover a portion. You must check with your insurance company to see if mobile physical therapy is covered and how much you must pay out of pocket.
It depends on your insurance. Traditional Medicare with supplemental insurance will most likely not have out-of-pocket costs, but Advantage plans may have out-of-pocket costs.

Mobile physical therapy can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Knee pain
  • Hip pain
  • Balance problems
  • Strength training
  • Post-surgical rehabilitation: Joint replacements.
  • Stroke rehabilitation
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Arthritis and more.
A mobile physical therapy session will typically begin with evaluating your condition. The physical therapist will develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals. Treatment may include pain management, exercises, manual therapy, and education on managing your condition.
The number of sessions you need will vary depending on your situation and goals. Most people need 1-2 sessions per week for 4-6 weeks.

There are many benefits to mobile physical therapy, including:

  • Convenience: You can receive physical therapy in the comfort of your own home.
  • Privacy: You can receive physical therapy without worrying about being seen by others.
  • Flexibility: You can schedule your appointments around your busy schedule.
  • Cost-effectiveness: Mobile physical therapy can be more cost-effective than traditional physical therapy, depending on your insurance coverage.
